Professional History Volunteer Work

University of Waterloo – Chemical Engineering Honours Co-op

I attended the University of Waterloo and obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science, Honours Chemical Engineering (Co-op). This involved several years of changing my living arrangement every four months.  The program consisted of four months of academic courses, followed by four months of work in a co-op job placement.

Through the degree I gained work experience at several companies:

  • Canada’s Wonderland – Water Technician
  • University of Waterloo – Laboratory Assistant
  • Barenco Inc. – Environmental Scientist
  • SNC Lavalin O&M – Help Desk Analyst

Some interesting courses I took during my undergraduate degree included the follows:

  • Polymer Science & Polymer production: Polymer Reaction Engineering
  • Industrial Wastewater Pollution Control
  • Air Pollution Control
  • Industrial Ecology

My fourth year project topic was designing a device that could perform nano-scale electrical field flow fractionation (EFFF)

Dunbarton High School – Diploma with honours

Due to my interests in both the academics and arts, my high school course selection was quite varied.  I took all available math courses as well as continuing with music and art courses through to grade 12.

I continued to be involved in band, playing trombone in both the concert and jazz bands.

Highbush Elementary School

I was involved in many extracurricular activities during my time at elementary school including the following:

  • Concert Band
  • Jazz Band
  • Choir
  • Environmental Club
  • Country Folk Dance Club
